Several roads in Glasgow will be closed this weekend for TRNSMT 2024.

The huge music event is set to take place between Friday, July 12 and Sunday, July 14 at Glasgow Green.

Artists performing at the festival include Liam Gallagher, Gerry Cinnamon, Calvin Harris, The Snuts, Declan McKenna, and many more.

Ahead of it, Glasgow City Council has revealed multiple roads will be shut before it, throughout it, and after it.

The local authority has also said some roads will be hit with restrictions.

Here are all the roads which are set to be closed:

From 8am on Monday, June 24 until 6pm on Friday, July 19, these roads will be shut:

  • Greendyke Street between London Road and Charlotte Street
  • Glasgow Green (West Carriageway) for its full-length
  • Glasgow Green (East Carriageway) for its full-length

From 10am on Wednesday, July 10 until 2am on Monday, July 15, these roads will be closed to motorists: 

  • Saltmarket for its full-length
  • Steel Street for its full-length
  • Bridgegate between King Street and Saltmarket
  • St Andrews Street for its full-length
  • Mart Street for its full-length
  • Jocelyn Square for its full-length
  • Turnbull Street for its full-length
  • James Morrison Street
  • Greendyke Street between Turnbull Street and Saltmarket

Meanwhile, several other roads will be closed for multiple days for the event.

These are: 

  • Kings Drive for its full-length
  • The Green for its full-length
  • Arcadia Street for its full-length
  • Templeton Street for its full-length
  • Turnbull Street for its full-length
  • James Morrison Street for its full-length
  • Charlotte Street, between Greendyke Street and London Road
  • Greendyke Street for its full-length
  • Greendyke Street, between Turnbull Street and London Road

These roads will be shut over several days, as follows: 

  • 9pm on Wednesday, July 10 until 1am on Thursday, July 11
  • 9pm on Friday, July 12 until 1am on Saturday, July 13
  • 9pm on Saturday, July 13 to 1am on Sunday, July 14
  • 9pm on Sunday, July 14 until 1am on Monday, July 15

Drivers also won't be able to wait or load on the following roads between 3pm on Tuesday, July 9 and 2am on Monday, July 15:

  • Charlotte Street, between Greendyke Street and London Road
  • Ballater Street, between Kings Drive and Crown Street
  • Dyer's Lane, east of Turnbull Street
  • Greendyke Street, for its entire length
  • Monteith Place, from Monteith Row to London Road
  • Monteith Row, between Monteith Place and Greendyke Street
  • Saltmarket, between Clyde Street and London Road
  • The Green, between King's Drive and Greendyke Street
  • Turnbull Street, between Greendyke Street and Saint Andrew's Street
  • James Morrison Street, between London Road and St Andrews Street
  • St Andrews Street, between Satlmarket and James Morrison Street
  • Kings Drive, for its entire length
  • Bridgegate, for its entire length
  • King Street, between Bridgegate and Osborne Street
  • London Road, between Moir Street and Saltmarket
  • Saltmarket for its full-length
  • Steel Street for its full-length
  • Bridgegate between Kings Street and Saltmarket
  • St Andrews Drive for its full-length
  • Mart Street for its full-length
  • Jocelyn Square for its full-length
  • Turnbull Street for its full-length
  • Greendyke Street between Turnbull Street and Saltmarket
  • Kings Drive for its full-length
  • The Green for its full-length
  • Arcadia Street for its full-length
  • Templeton Street for its full-length

Meanwhile, several streets in the area will only be able to be accessed by locals.

These are: 

  • McNeil Street
  • Moffat Street
  • Waddell Street
  • Commercial Street
  • Florence Street
  • McPhail Street
  • Arcadia Street
  • Tempelton Street
  • Greanhead Street
  • Arcadia Place
  • Monteith Row
  • Monteith Place
  • Binnie Place

The council has said the closures and restrictions will be in place for the safety of the event and road users.

The road closures and restrictions come after we reported that TRNSMT has issued a warning ahead of this year's festival.

Organisers of the event have issued a reminder to those attending it on what IDs will be accepted.

Taking to social media, bosses of the much-loved festival have said passports, full or provisional driving licences, and national proof of age standard scheme cards with a pass hologram will be accepted.

However, no photocopies or expired IDs will be accepted at the summer music festival in the city.

Items prohibited from the event include single-use vapes, bags bigger than A4 paper, drugs, flares, and much more.
