Clouds of dark smoke have poured out of a tenement flat in Uddingston following a fire this morning.
Footage shared with the Glasgow Times shows the smoke coming out of the window of the top-floor flat on Deanbrae Street on Wednesday.
Fire crews can be seen at the scene running in and out of the building, and more smoke billows out from the roof.
A height appliance was pictured over the building.
Police confirmed that residents have been evacuated and that the road is closed while emergency services deal with the fire.
They are urging people to avoid the area.
Those who are impacted can seek help from West of Scotland Housing Association at Park Church on Main Street.
A spokesperson said: "Officers are assisting Scottish Fire and Rescue Service colleagues at the scene of a fire on Deanbrae Street, Uddingston.
The fire was reported at a property around 9.15am this morning (Wednesday, June 26, 2024).
"Two people were conveyed to hospital as a precaution for smoke-related injuries.
"A number of residents have been evacuated and refreshments are being provided at Park Church, Main Street, where representatives from West of Scotland Housing Association can assist those impacted.
"Deanbrae Street remains closed at its junctions with Crofthead Street and Watson Street, and motorists are advised to avoid the area."
It is not known if there have been any injuries.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
