A new outdoor gym has opened within a park in a village in Lanarkshire.
The people of Overtown have welcomed the new facility which is free to use and sits next to the community centre in the park.
It provides a welcome addition to the existing play park, skate park and dog walking area.
The gym has been delivered thanks to a £45,000 grant from the Local Development Programme, which is managed by the council’s Community Partnership Team.
Pupils from local schools Clyde Valley High and Orchard Primary came to try out the new equipment at a special event along with members of the Overtown Brighter Village Association and other locals.
Vicki Peacock, community partnership officer, said: “The project was developed by the Community Partnership Team, working closely with the Overtown Brighter Village Association.
“The new outdoor gym includes 12 different pieces high tech durable exercise equipment including a spinning bike, elliptical trainer, hydraulic squat, chest press, pendulum & twister, abs bench and more."
She added: "The gym is installed on state-of-the-art wetpour surfacing for safer training, and colourful zones.
“It was designed for all ages from the local community to improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing – most of the equipment designed to be used by people with poor mobility and low strength."
The chair of the Overtown Brighter Village Association, Nancy Kerr, added: “The people of Overtown are so happy to have this gym and it is great to see all ages are using it."
