Glasgow's first Popeyes restaurant will officially open on Friday.

Ahead of the big event, the Glasgow Times was invited for an exclusive first look inside the new spot on Sauchiehall Street.

This is the American brand's 50th store in the UK and well-anticipated first in Glasgow, following the success of the Barrhead location last year.

The eatery is known for its chicken dishes, made with its signature shatter-crunch, which is to be felt in your jaw as you bite into your food.

Located in the middle of the city centre, the venue is open for sit-in and takeaway guests and will initially be open until midnight.

Inside, it is spacious and light, decorated with the signature orange and teal colours.

Customers can enjoy a choice of comfortable booths or tables as they eat.

Officially, the restaurant will open on Friday morning at 11am, with plenty of freebies to mark the occasion.

The first three people in the queue will get free chicken sandwiches for a year and the first 50 will receive one free sandwich.

More prizes, such as bucket hats, T-shirts and nail sets will also be up for grabs.
