A pervert caught with 43 minutes of indecent footage of children on his mobile phone avoided jail on Friday.

Dylan Berry, 24, was also caught with 5,310 still images of children at his family home in Stepps on November 11 2022.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that a warrant was granted to search the property.

Berry handed over his mobile phone and PIN number and an initial search of the device uncovered images of children on it.

Prosecutor Jenny Reid said: "These images were of the sexual exploitation and abuse of children."

The fiscal depute said a thorough search of the phone found 5,310 still images and 1,252 moving images.

Miss Reid added: "The combined video run time was 43 minutes.

"These were of male and female children aged between 1 and 12-years-old."

Some of the files had been recovered from a browser which provides privacy and blocks website trackers.

Berry pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images and permitting or permit to be taken or make indecent images.

Barry was ordered to do 300 hours of unpaid work and tagged for nine months keeping him indoors between 7pm and 7am.

The first offender was also put on the sex offenders register and supervision for three years.
