Two Glasgow residents have won a huge amount of cash in the Postcode Lottery.

Two neighbours living on Estate Road in Carmyle scooped £408,990 each after G32 8AJ was announced as the winning postcode for Saturday’s Millionaire Street prize in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

On top of that, hundreds of people in the wider postcode area celebrated sharing the remaining prize money.

In total, 484 players in G32 8 landed cash prizes ranging from £326 to £1,630.

The pair who won the biggest prizes chose to remain anonymous.

Meanwhile, the player's win means local charities have also benefited from a cash boost in the area.

Several organisations have been awarded funding by the Postcode Community Trust including Spinal Injuries Scotland (£60,000), Fuse Youth Cafe (£30,000), Mount Vernon Community Hall SCIO (£25,000), and The Michael Tracey Project (£60,000).

Mark Dempsey, Service Leader at The Michael Tracey Project said: “We feel so incredibly lucky to have received the news of funding this week.

“It will help us to considerably elevate our offering as a charity with the purchase of a new minibus – something we’ve never had.

“This is not only beneficial for the charity, but also for the families of the brilliant young adults we look after, as they no longer need to rely solely on lifts and taxis to get them to our facilities – the more we can do to help, the better."

Mark added: “We are also going to put the funding from People’s Postcode Lottery towards improving our sensory room, which is another key component to our offering.

“The space combines a range of stimuli to help individuals develop and engage their senses.

“The space is great, but the potential for what we can do now is just incredible.

"It is a weight lifted off our shoulders."
