Police are 'holding traffic' on Glasgow's M8 due to an incident.

The motorway is currently restricted between junction 12 (Cumbernauld Road) and 11 (Stepps Road) eastbound due to a vehicle on fire.

Cops are on the scene and are managing traffic, Traffic Scotland said.

It is not known yet if there are any injuries.

The lane was later cleared.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 8.43am on Monday, July 15 to reports of a vehicle fire on the M8 Eastbound.

"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, between junctions 11 and 12, where firefighters extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe.

"Crews thereafter left the scene.

"There were no casualties."
