The swimming pools at a leisure centre in Giffnock are set to be closed for up to eight weeks.

Eastwood Park Leisure has announced its pools will be shut from Monday, July 22, for 'essential maintenance'.

The facility - which is based on Rouken Glen Road in the town - said they expect the work to take up to eight weeks.

During the closure, those looking to use the pools are being advised to use the nearby swimming pools at the Barrhead Foundry and Neilston Leisure Centre.

Announcing the closure, a statement on the sports centre's website says: "The swimming pools at Eastwood Park Leisure will be closed for essential maintenance from Monday, July 22.

"We expect this maintenance work to take up to eight weeks to complete.

‌"We are very sorry for the inconvenience this causes but this maintenance work is essential, and we hope you understand that the safety of our customers must be our priority.

"Our swimming pools at Barrhead Foundry and Neilston Leisure Centre are open as normal."

It continued to say: "We have added additional public swimming sessions at Eastwood High Sports Centre.

"Public swimming will be available Monday to Friday between 1pm and 3pm from Monday, July 22 to Friday, August 9.

"As the pool at Eastwood High Sports Centre has a smaller capacity than Eastwood Park, a band system will be in place for 40-minute swims on a first come, first served basis."
