A man has died after being found 'unresponsive' on a busy Glasgow street.

Police say they were called to a report of a man unresponsive on Argyle Street in the city centre shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, July 16.

999 crews rushed to the scene.

Sadly, a 57-year-old man was then pronounced dead.

The force says the death is currently being treated as unexplained, however, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

During the incident, Glasgow City Council said Argyle Street (at Hielanman's Umbrella) was shut between Hope Street and Union Street.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 5.15pm on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, we were called to a report of a man unresponsive in Argyle Street, Glasgow.

"Emergency services attended and a 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances. 

"A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
