Scottish Water are set to undertake major sewer upgrades near Glasgow - and the work will take almost a year to complete.

A section of sewer running beneath woodland at Conon Avenue in Bearsden will be replaced using two deep access chambers and specialist machinery will be used to allow new pipes to be installed.

The work is due to begin in August 2024 and should be completed by spring 2025.

Other minor sewer rehabilitation works are also planned around Conon Avenue as part of the project.

Mark MacLaren, Scottish Water investment delivery communication manager, said: “The project has been designed specifically to minimise the impact on the community and the environment.

“We appreciate it has taken a considerable period of time to plan, design and ultimately deliver the new sewer, but the planning required has been extensive and complex.

“Scottish Water is investing many millions of pounds across the country to meet the challenges of ageing infrastructure, increased demand and climate change."

It will take place a Bearsden Bowling Club (38 Station Road, Bearsden, G61 4Al) on Tuesday, July 30 between 4.30pm and 7pm.
