The speed limit will be permanently reduced on a busy road from next month.
Part of Ayr Road will be cut from 40mph to 30mph to improve safety after a “high number” of crashes resulting in injuries were recorded over five years.
We previously reported that East Renfrewshire Council was planning the change, which will now come into effect as of Thursday, August 1.

It affects the road between Eastwood Toll and Pilmuir Road.
A spokesperson said: "As of Thursday, August 1, the 40mph speed limit on the A77, Ayr Road between Eastwood Toll and Pilmuir Road, will be permanently reduced to 30mph to enhance road safety for all users."

Accident statistics show 22 crashes taking place on the road between January 2018 and December 31, 2022.
Figures reveal there was one fatal crash, four serious injuries and 18 slight injuries over the five years, comparing “very unfavourably” with the entire East Renfrewshire road network.

The 3.2 mile (5.2km) stretch of Ayr Road affected by the change includes seven controlled pedestrian crossings.
Four are between Mearns Cross and Maidenhill, where there are schools, bus stops, shops, restaurants, businesses and a leisure centre.
A council report added the current 40mph limit was “appropriate for a trunk road” but a 30mph is now “more appropriate and safer for all road users”.
Council leader Owen O’Donnell said the “statement of reasons seems entirely sensible" for introducing the reduced speed limit.
He added: “Particularly when we look at the average speeds now, they are actually pretty close to the 30mph limit so it shouldn’t have a significant impact on road users.”
