A Glasgow man 'thought it was a wind up' when he won a trip worth £5000 in a competition he just started entering.

Railway worker Paul McLaughlin couldn’t believe his luck after winning a getaway to Turkey after registering with BTOB's Instant Wins Competition.

The 39-year-old received a video call from BOTB presenter Christian Williams, who confirmed the news and wanted to find out how he reacted to winning.

Paul said: “I had only just registered with BOTB and thought I would give it a go. I’m absolutely buzzing to have won.

“I bought 10 tickets and it was the first one that won me the holiday. I was in disbelief and thought somebody was winding me up.”

Paul considered taking the cash alternative to the holiday so he can save up for a new home with his other half.

He said: “Me and my partner are looking at getting our first house together, so the money would come in very handy for the deposit."

Christian said: “A huge congratulations to Paul who is new to BOTB and was clearly in shock when he discovered he was a winner.

“Turkey is a fantastic place to visit and I’m sure Paul will have an amazing trip if he decides to take it over the cash alternative.

“But I know how difficult it is to buy a house and get on the property ladder, so I can understand why the cash is appealing to him right now.”

Car giveaway company BOTB offers a competition which involves handing the keys to a dream car to a lucky winner each week as well as a lifestyle prize.
