The design for a new £23.9million leisure centre near Glasgow is underway.
South Lanarkshire Council has said a contractor has been appointed for the new Larkhall Leisure Centre.
Following a 'robust procurement process', hub South West Scotland Limited along with the local authority has appointed BAM Construction as the Tier 1 Contractor.
Revealing the news, Alison Brown, the council's head of Enterprise and Sustainable Development says the appointment will enable work to get underway in spring 2025 - with main construction work starting in late 2025 and completing in 2027.

The council says BAM will be supported by Holmes Miller Architects, Blyth and Blyth consulting engineers, and Wallace Whittle environmental building services.
Meanwhile, they also say the project team have an 'excellent track record with BAM' and will be striving towards Passivhaus standards to meet energy efficiencies which will provide significant carbon and revenue savings for the new Larkhall Leisure Centre.

Alison Brown said: “As previously reported, the council had secured this funding to construct the new leisure facility.
“I am now delighted to be able to say that following the appointment of BAM Construction, enabling work is now scheduled to get underway in spring 2025 with the main construction work commencing in late 2025 and completing in 2027.
“Now that the project team has been formally appointed, they will be looking at opportunities to maximise the space within the available budget, which will be subject to engagement with the local community in the coming months.”
Meanwhile, Shaun Sands, Programme Director, hub South West Scotland Limited: said: “Hub South West are delighted to partner with South Lanarkshire Council again in developing the new Larkhall Leisure Centre.
“We look forward to working with the community in developing this new state-of-the-art leisure facility that will also work towards achieving the council's net-zero targets.
Jim Ward, Regional Director, BAM Construction Limited, added: “We are looking forward to working with Hub Southwest and South Lanarkshire Council and we will deliver a quality project for the community of Larkhall.
“We are excited about the environmental benefits this project will bring through energy efficiency standards which will deliver significant carbon and revenue savings.”
