Glasgow’s skyline is constantly changing and those with eager eyes are able to spot emerging trends.
In the last year, the Glasgow Times reported on 17 student housing schemes being proposed and or given the green light in the city.
Here is a list of the biggest ones:
Project to build 551-bed student accommodation in Glasgow reaches huge milestone
Already underway, this project on Bath Street will create 551 spaces for students.
It's due to be completed next year and replaced a vacant 1970s office block and will contain "luxury communal amenities" including a gym, a gaming arcade, dining spaces and social areas.
Work on new six-storey student housing to begin
This development, on a currently vacant site, is set to welcome students by the start of the 2026 academic year.
It is located on St George's Road and will have ensuite bedrooms with shared kitchens and self-sufficient studios, accommodating 262 students in total.
'Disaster' 18-storey student block approved despite local uproar
This tower is proposed at the corner of Cambridge Street and Renfrew Street and will replace an unoccupied building.
It will be an 18-story student housing including 160 apartments.
Locals objected strongly to the scale of the development, but despite this, developers were given the green light.
Plans to transform derelict site at Central Quay approved
Part of a mixed-use development at Central Quay, which will include homes, offices and commercial space will be a student building containing a whopping 934 beds.
After gaining planning permission, it will continue the regeneration of the Clyde riverside by transforming a vacant, derelict, former industrial land.
Plans for over 430 flats in Glasgow city centre approved
Work is expected to start next month on this scheme, spanning over 16 storeys, and containing 432 student flats.
Located on Renfield Street, the development is worth around £85 million.
Previously, the site was used by STV.
Sauchiehall Street M&S rebuild plans finally gets go ahead from council
The £76m project to turn the former M&S store into 619 student rooms and commercial space has been approved.
The recognisable 1930s art deco facade will be retained in the new build retaining a link to the past use.
Controversial plan for student housing on derelict Glasgow site
Meanwhile, in Trongate, a plan for an 11-storey, 288-bed accommodation is subject to planning approval.
A number of objections have been lodged including from Merchant City and Trongate Community Council, but the bud is recommended for a green light.
The land is currently used as a temporary car park and pop-up venue space.
Huge £95m plan for student flats and build-to-rent homes in Glasgow
A proposal of application notice was lodged for a £95m development in Collegelands.
It would consist of a 586-bed student space, 182 build-to-rent apartments, an arts facility, an events space, a cafe and a courtyard.
Planning application submitted for more student homes in Glasgow
Two buildings, 36- and 10-storeys, totalling 784 student beds, are proposed at Charing Cross.
The development on India Street would also include commercial space.
Called The Árd, the scheme would replace the former Portcullis House.
