A woman was rushed to hospital after an incident on a main street.
We reported that part of High Street in Dumbarton had been taped off on Sunday afternoon and officers were carrying out investigations at the scene.
The force has now confirmed that a pedestrian was hit by a car.
The 76-year-old woman was taken to Royal Alexandra Hospital to be checked as a precaution.
High Street is closed and investigations will continue, Police Scotland added.
Anyone who saw what happened is urged to speak to officers as soon as possible.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 12.05pm on Sunday, 28 July, 2024 we were called to a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Dumbarton High Street.
"A 76-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital as a precaution.
"The road is currently closed and enquiries are ongoing.
"Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to officers should contact us on 101, quoting incident 1572 of 28 July."
