An urgent search is underway for a missing teenager who vanished one week ago.

Police are desperately searching to track down Ross MacCormick who is missing from Johnstone in Renfrewshire.

The 15-year-old was last seen by his family at around 1.30pm on Wednesday, July 24, in the Quarrelton Grove area of the town.

The youngster is described as being white, around 5ft 7inch tall, with a slim build and short black hair.

It is unknown what he was last wearing.

The force has revealed Ross takes daily medication and it's not clear if he has enough medication with him.

Amid the search for the teenager, cops have been carrying out extensive inquiries and speaking with his family and friends, but no one has confirmed seeing or hearing from him.

Meanwhile, any relevant CCTV footage continues to be reviewed with the last confirmed sighting of Ross in the Govan area of Glasgow on Thursday, July 25, 2024.

Officers say Ross also has family and friends in the Airdrie area and they are conducting inquiries within the town.

Inspector Andrew Stewart said: “Our concern for Ross is growing given the lack of knowledge around whether he has enough medication with him.

"I would appeal to anyone who knows Ross or has any information about where he might be to speak to us.

"We want to ensure he is safe and well.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: "Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 4358 of July 24, 2024."
