A Glasgow cafe issued an emotional statement after closing for the final time.

Ushi's Coffee Corner operated on West Regent Street as a casual dining spot and a place for people in the LGBTQ+ community to come together.

The team previously informed customers of their decision to close on Sunday, July 21.

They said it had been a 'really hard' experience but thanked their followers for their loyalty and support over the years.

A statement read: "Hello folks. some of you may know already but we’ve collectively made the decision to close Ushi’s Coffee Corner. our last day of service will be Sunday, July 21.

"To put it simply, it’s been really hard. Being stuck in the city centre has felt very isolating and it’s really affected our morale and mental health. The place has remained relatively quiet since we opened 2.5+ years ago and we’ve made the decision that, with a break option available, that it would be better for us to close 182 West Regent Street."

Disappointed regulars shared their best wishes to the team.

One said: "I am so sad, but equally super proud of you for doing what's best for you! The space you built is amazing and you should be so proud!"

Another wrote: "Makes sense but you will be missed."

A third added: "Ushi’s will live forever in my heart!"
