A woman spat on and kicked staff at a Glasgow hostel after being turned away.

Leeanne Hanlon arrived at the Euro Hostel on Clyde Street at 1.30am on November 2, 2023.

When she entered and asked about availability, the on-duty manager told her they were fully booked.

The night porter approached and the 39-year-old kicked him.

She also spat on the manager, catching him on the arm.

Police were called and they traced Hanlon further along the street. They took her to Helen Street police station but she was not cautioned and charged due to her behaviour.

The Cambuslang woman appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after she pleaded guilty to assaulting the two employees.

Her lawyer said at the hearing: "Her recollection of the incident is far from complete. She gave an account to the social worker. She accepts that she has been drinking but she denies any alcohol misuse or difficulty.

"However, if she was given an order to be assessed, she would comply with that.

"She visits her niece three times a week, she also goes to the local swimming pool to help with her mental health and for relaxation."

Sheriff Bernard Ablett told Hanlon: "Your behaviour was both violent and disgusting and I am going to reflect this the sentence I impose."

She was tagged for six months, forcing her to stay at her home between 9pm 7am each day.
