Hovis has issued a statement after one of their trucks 'hit a person' in Glasgow.

A bread delivery vehicle was involved in an alleged collision with a cyclist on Alexandra Parade in the city's East End on Wednesday.

The cyclist, a 26-year-old woman, was rushed to hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Meanwhile, a 50-year-old man, who was driving the truck, will be reported in connection with an alleged road traffic offence.

Hovis has now revealed that they have been made aware of the incident and an internal investigation has been launched. 

A spokesperson for Hovis said: “We are aware of an incident between a Hovis vehicle and a cyclist that took place in Glasgow on Wednesday 31.

“An internal investigation is underway to establish the cause of the incident and our thoughts are with the people involved.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We were called to a report of a crash on Alexandra Parade involving a truck and a cyclist around 5.20pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

“Emergency services attended and the cyclist, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

"The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man, will be reported in connection with a road traffic offence."
