Kirkintilloch residents will have the chance to give feedback about proposals to build 51 new homes in the area.
East Dunbartonshire Council, in partnership with Coltart Earley Architects, McTaggart Construction and West Scotland, the council’s development partners hub, plans to develop an area of land known as Cleddans Playing Fields or Tottie Park.
The site, located east of Whitehill Avenue in Hillhead and west of Loch Lea, Mossgiel Gardens, and Alloway Grove in Harestanes, was allocated for housing development in 2017 in the Local Development Plan.
The proposed establishment for social rent comprises an assortment of affordable cottage flats, semi-detached, and terraced homes ranging from one to four bedrooms.
The development will be made possible through the allocation of grant funding provided by the Scottish Government's Affordable Housing Supply Programme.
A drop-in event will be hosted at Hillhead Community Centre on August 20 from 3pm to 7pm.
Organised by the council's Housing Investment Team, the event will provide the residents with a chance to view the initial proposals, ask questions and give feedback.
For those unable to attend, details will be uploaded on the consultation pages of the council’s website at https://www.eastdunbarton.gov.uk/council/consultations from August 12.
Those who want to comment on the proposal can do so via an online survey which will run from August 12 until 23.
Councillor Paul Ferretti, convener of the council’s Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets Committee, said: “This is an opportunity for residents to find out about the proposed new development and provide us with feedback.
“There will be experts on hand to answer questions and provide further details on the plans and drawings that are being proposed to help us successfully deliver much needed affordable homes in this area. I hope people can attend and let us know their views.”
A second drop-in event is scheduled for September 25 from 3pm to 7pm at the same location which will showcase the feedback from the first event.
