A Glasgow fundraising group's first Childline Ball raised more than £20,000 for the NSPCC.

The Fizz and Fabulous committee organised the ball at Radisson Blu in June which raised £20,500 for the child protection charity.

Scottish comedian and Two Doors Down star Elaine C Smith hosted the event which recognised Childline volunteers and supporters with an awards ceremony.

The committee has been organising an annual ladies' lunch for seven years.

These events, along with this ball, have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the NSPCC.

The 2022 Ladies Lunch raised £55,610 for the charity.

Their work earned them the Esther Rantzen Award at the NSPCC People Awards in 2023.

Chairwoman Janette McAllister became involved six years ago after attending a Ladies Lunch.

She said: "We started raising money for NSPCC Scotland because we want to help make sure children are kept safe from abuse and neglect.

"Our mission has always been to change childhoods for the better."

Sandra Jones, community fundraising manager for NSPCC Scotland, said: "We’d like to thank the wonderful Ladies Lunch committee members who generously give up their time to organise events to raise money for Childline each year and everyone who attends and donates so generously on the day.

"Their support helps us to be there for children when they need us."

This year's Fizz and Fabulous Ladies Lunch in November is already sold out.
