North Lanarkshire Council has appointed the property management firm which currently supervises the Antonine Shopping Centre in Cumbernauld to also oversee the older parts of the town centre.

The local authority has awarded two contracts to Belgate Estates concerning the management of the property and assets of the other parts of the town centre complex  following a tendering process.

The council took ownership of the Centre Cumbernauld and Cumbernauld Shopping Centre in June 2023, intent on ultimately demolishing both to regenerate the town centre with a traditional high street environment based around a community hub.

In the short term, the local authority sough to appoint temporary asset and property managers on 12-month contracts, each with a potential extension period of three months.

A notice published by North Lanarkshire Council confirms that both of these contracts have now been awarded to Belgate Estates,  a Glasgow based firm which manages a portfolio worth around £40 million.

Other properties controlled by Belgate include the Airedale Shopping Centre in Keighley, the Octagon Shopping Centre in Burton, Falkirk’s Howgate Centre, the Mercat in Kirkcaldy and Rhyl’s White Rose Shopping Centre.
