A woman has been left seriously injured after being hit by a red Peugeot in a busy retail park.

We reported how police were called to a collision involving a motor and a pedestrian on Douglas Park Lane - near Douglas Park Retail Park in Hamilton - on Thursday, August 15.

The force was alerted to the incident shortly after 11am.

After that, an 86-year-old woman - who was the pedestrian - was rushed to hospital.

Officers have now revealed the pensioner has been left seriously injured after the crash.

During the incident, police say the road was closed to allow investigations to be carried out.

It reopened at 2pm.

Now, traffic cops are looking for anyone with information on the serious crash to come forward.

Road Policing Sergeant Chris McColm said: “Our enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

"I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: "Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting reference 1209 of August 15, 2024."
