UPDATE: Forensics team scour Glasgow flat after body found inside

A MAN has been found dead in a flat amid a police investigation into an alleged serious assault.

Police say they were originally called to an alleged assault of a 38-year-old man on Springfield Road in the East End shortly after 10pm last night.

The man was taken to hospital, meanwhile, two men - aged 17 and 40 - were arrested.

However, while conducting an investigation into the incident, cops discovered the body of an unidentified man in a flat on the same street.

Currently, police are treating the death as unexplained and an investigation is underway to identify the man and establish the circumstances of his death.

Meanwhile, a man aged 38 has been arrested.

Officers have revealed they are treating the incidents as being linked.

It comes after we reported police taped off part of the street outside a property this morning.

In images captured by the Glasgow Times, two officers can be seen standing on guard at the scene.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 10.15pm on Thursday, August 15, 2024, a 38-year-old man reported to police he had been assaulted in Springfield Road, Glasgow.

"The man was taken to hospital and two men, aged 17 and 40, were arrested.

"While conducting enquiries into this serious assault officers discovered the body of an unidentified man within a flat in Springfield Road.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to identify the man and establish the circumstances of the death.

"A man, aged 38, has been arrested and enquiries are ongoing.

"At this time, officers believe the incidents to be linked."
