A man spat on a bouncer after being knocked back from a Glasgow bar in a "disgusting" assault.

Adrian Curran tried to get into Wunderbar in the city centre with a friend at 12.30am on February 7, 2024.

However, the door steward refused him entry due to being drunk.

An argument started between the two and the 37-year-old spat in the face of the employee.

Police were alerted and when they arrived at Buchanan Street, they reviewed CCTV footage.

Curran was traced in a neighbouring pub, arrested and taken to Helen Street police station, where he was cautioned and charged.

He appeared at the dock of Glasgow Sheriff Court last week after pleading guilty to assaulting Aidan Gribben, while he was at work.

Sheriff Allan McKay remarked: "It’s a nasty assault."

Curran's lawyer said: "It’s quite disgusting. But it seems to be out of character.

"When he is not drinking, he seems to contribute to society."

The sheriff told Curran: "I believe you would not have done this in the sober light of day, you have an understanding of how disgusting this is.

"I am taking a guess that this is not your normal behaviour."

Curren, of Omagh, Northern Ireland, was fined £1000 plus a £40 victim surcharge.
