A disruptive man who urinated in front of passengers on a Glasgow easyJet flight has been caged.

Brian Watt has been jailed for eight months for his 'threatening and criminal behaviour' onboard a flight from Glasgow Airport to Tenerife in Spain earlier this year.

The aircraft had to be diverted to Bristol Airport after the 34-year-old caused a 'number of issues' while he was drunk.

According to Avon and Somerset Police, Watt, of Rothesay, Scotland, smoked in the plane toilets, caused damage to a soap dispenser, refused to remain seated, urinated in front of fellow passengers, and was abusive to cabin crew.

Following the incident, the disruptive holidaymaker has been locked up for eight months.

Watt was sentenced at North Somerset Magistrates Court on Thursday, July 18 having pleaded guilty to being drunk on an aircraft, criminal damage, failing to obey the lawful commands of the pilot, and using threatening, abusive or insulting words towards crew.

Sergeant Rachael Hodges said: "Brian Watt's threatening and criminal behaviour was disgraceful, and forced the flight to Tenerife to be diverted.

"He caused significant disruption to passengers onboard, as well as the airline and crew.

"He now has a criminal record and a significant prison sentence as a result, and it hopefully is a reminder to people flying away this summer of the need to behave when travelling."
