A Glasgow restaurant has revealed an update amid reports of the company going into liquidation.

We previously reported that the Japanese eatery Sapporo Teppanyaki appeared to enter liquidation.

Simon Thomas Barriball and Gareth Bishop of McAlister & Co Insolvency Practitioners Limited were appointed as liquidators of a business named Sapporo Teppan Ltd - with Sapporo Teppanyaki as the trading name.

However it was not clear how this would affect the Ingram Street restaurant.

Now the team has provided some clarity on the situation.

They have issued a statement informing their customers that Sapporo Teppan Ltd was the trading company of the restaurant until May 19, 2023.

They say a company called Rhodean Ltd took over on May 20, 2023, meaning that the recent liquidation of Sapporo Teppan Ltd does not affect the Sapporo Teppanyaki restaurant on Ingram Street.

A spokesperson said: "We are open! We have never closed! And we are definitely not going to.

"There have been some incorrect assumptions made in relation to the premises known as Sapporo Teppanyaki - Glasgow.

"The Scottish Gazette is showing that a company called Sapporo Teppan Ltd has gone into liquidation (not administration).

"Chronologically this company was the trading company until May 19, 2023, at Sapporo Teppanyaki Glasgow on May 20, 2023, the company Rhodean Ltd took assignment of the lease.

"The fact that the previous company Sapporo Teppan Ltd has only recently gone into liquidation has no bearing whatsoever on the unit now which is perfectly healthy and trading well with the obvious current trading challenges that the hospitality industry has right now as it is still difficult times for the industry."

Customers shared their delight at the news that the restaurant would be safe.

One said: "I’m very happy to hear this good news."

Another wrote: "Amazing news."

A third added: "Good to hear."
