The Brick Lane Jazz Festival is set to make its debut in Glasgow in an extension beyond its East London origins.
For the first time, the festival's energy and creativity are to be introduced to Scotland in a special event featuring Glasgow’s own Rebecca Vasmant and her record label Rebecca’s Records.
This first-of-its-kind event, part of the new Brick Lane Jazz Festival Presents series, is scheduled for Friday, October 11, from 7.30pm until 11.30pm at The Rum Shack in Glasgow.
The festival, hailed as a pillar of London’s jazz scene, aims to transport its sound and spirit to Glasgow, presenting a much-anticipated concert to be an unforgettable celebration of spiritual grooves, electronic beats, and forefront jazz.
The evening assures a captivating musical journey, with the ticket price at £10.50.
Rebecca, a leading light of Glasgow’s music scene, with notable residencies at Sub Club and a BBC Radio Scotland show, will headline the concert with a DJ set that displays her knowledge of spiritual jazz and electric music.
Her performances are renowned for their immense depth and ability to connect with audiences.
The evening will also feature live performances from two exceptional acts: Ari Tsugi, a rising star band recognised for blending spiritual jazz, psychedelic rock, and Brazilian melodies into a sound both intricate and uplifting, and Azamiah, who take inspiration from the likes of Hiatus Kaiyote, SAULT, and James Blake, and continuously push the boundaries of neo-soul and electronic music.
Following the live performances, Rebecca will again take centre stage, united with Juju K, the mastermind behind Brick Lane Jazz Festival, for a stimulating DJ set that is sure to keep the energy pulsating late into the evening.
The Glasgow event is part of the extensive Brick Lane Jazz Festival Presents series, an all-year initiative that carries the festival’s spirit to numerous cities across the UK and even to Paris.
The series showcases the finest of jazz, hip-hop, neo-soul, R&B, broken beat, and electronic music, reflecting the profuse diversity of London’s underground music scene.
As the Brick Lane Jazz Festival continues to expand, the Glasgow event signifies a remarkable moment in the festival’s history.
It is a golden opportunity to connect with new audiences and to share the unique sound that has established the festival as a part of London’s cultural landscape.
