Liam Gallagher revealed the first festival he ever went to was in Glasgow - but he sadly forgot the name of it.

The Oasis legend spoke to NME ahead of his appearance at Reading & Leeds Festival to talk about his memories - well, most of them - of attending his first-ever festival.

While the Manchester-born star was struggling to remember the exact name, that festival was Gig on the Green, which was held on Glasgow Green for the first time in August 2000 long before the days of TRNSMT.

Fans shared their delight at the festival being mentioned and shared their memories, with one commenting: Gig on the Green, I was there!"

Another said: "I wasn’t there. But I know a guy who was."

A third added: "My hometown."

A fourth wrote: "Gig in the Green, my brother went to it."

Glasgow featured heavily in the early days of Oasis as it was at local venue King Tut's Wah Wah Hut where manager Alan McGee first discovered the band.

Liam takes to the stage at the Reading & Leeds Festival on Sunday night where he will perform the iconic 1994 album Definitely Maybe, which turned 30 this year.
