The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) is set to close down several Glasgow branches over the next few months.

The banking firm - which is owned by NatWest - previously said a rise in the use of digital services was behind the move.

The financial giant will shut down several Glasgow branches in September, while more will close later in the year.

On top of that, stores in towns including Cumbernauld and Wishaw will also close down.

Here are some of the branches set to close over the next few months:

  • The RBS on 9 Clifton Place in Glasgow's West End will shut on November 19, 2024.
  • The RBS branch on 2139 Paisley Road West, Cardonald, Glasgow, will close down on September 17, 2024.
  • The RBS store on Sauchiehall Street in the city centre will close on November 19, 2024.
  • The RBS on Main Street in Rutherglen, South Lanarkshire will shut down on September 24, 2024.
  • RBS's branch on Princess Square in East Kilbride will close on October 1, 2024, however, a community pop-up site will be introduced following the closure for up to 12 weeks.
  • The RBS on Tay Walk in Cumbernauld will shut its doors on September 18, 2024. A community pop-up site will be introduced in the area following the closure for up to 12 weeks.
  • RBS's Main Street branch in Wishaw will shut down on September 24, 2024.
