Glasgow train services are being disrupted this morning due to an issue at a station.

A train has broken down at Kirkhill station in Cambuslang.

ScotRail says this will affect services between Glasgow Central and Newton until the error is resolved.

An 'assisting' train is on its way to help the situation but travellers should expect some disruption to their usual service.

ScotRail said: "We have a broken down train at Kirkhill station, this is affecting services between Glasgow Central to Newton. We are currently waiting for an assisting train to arrive."

The rail firm issued an update at 8.12am stating that Network Rail teams have to inspect the electrical wires above the line.

There is no ticket acceptance in place so travellers should make other arrangements.

A spokesperson said: "Network Rail are having to inspect the overhead electrical wires prior to the rescue train being allowed to depart. Due to no ticket acceptance in the area, customers are advised to make alternative travel arrangements. Apologies for any inconvenience caused this morning."
