The Caledonia Gladiators is launching a campaign to raise £25,000 for Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.
The campaign called Shooting for the Stars will kick off with various fundraising activities over the next 12 months.
The funds raised will support children's screenings at the hospital's MediCinema.
The MediCinema at Glasgow Children's Hospital offers a much-needed escape for young patients and their families, screening two of the latest films each week in a cinema setting complete with a red carpet and film-themed decorations.
To launch the campaign, men's player Fraser Malcom and women's captain Erin McGarrahan visited the cinema to meet with patients during a recent screening.
Tony McDaid, chief executive officer of the Caledonia Gladiators, said: "We’re thrilled to be partnering with Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity to raise money for such a well-loved facility for its patients.
"Just like sport, films bring so much joy and offer children the chance to switch off for an hour or two."
The Gladiators have a history of supporting the charity and have previously made surprise visits to the hospital during Christmas.
William McGowan, head of partnerships and business development at Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity, said: "We’re excited to be working with Caledonia Gladiators again.
"They have such a lovely community fanbase and are really popular with the patients in our hospital.
“As Scotland’s largest children's hospital, the cinema is such an important facility for our patients, it provides the children and their families an element of normality – being able to watch the latest films together in safety and comfort.
“We have various exciting initiatives planned throughout our partnership with the Caledonia Gladiators and we are deeply grateful for their continued support.”
The Gladiators are set to tip off their second season at their new Playsport arena in East Kilbride in September.
