A thrilling water weekend awaits for thousands in Kirkintilloch at the 2024 Canal Festival this weekend.

The festival, renowned for its popular nautical-themed celebration, will feature an enticing mix of family fun, marvellous activities, fireworks, and live music, along with excellent food and drink facilities.

Saturday brings with a free concert, featuring live performances from HavanaBlonde and The Mini Guns, paired with an unforgettable firework show at 9.15pm.

Adding to the fun are funfair rides, a food and drinks section, and several external events, such as the Spirit of Alba Festival at Kirkintilloch Town Hall and afternoon boat trips on the Forth and Clyde Canal.

Sunday's programme includes live music, free canoeing and archery, a funfair, and street theatre at Southbank Marina.

If you're a fan of classic cars and rock ‘n’ roll, don't miss the entertainment at Regent Gardens and Cowgate.

Councillor Gordan Low, Leader of the Council, said: "A warm welcome awaits everyone at the 2024 Kirkintilloch Canal Festival.

"The main weekend – Saturday August 31 and Sunday September 1 – offers a packed programme of entertainment, activities, attractions and live performances.

"The festival regularly attracts thousands of visitors to East Dunbartonshire – providing a range of family fun and boosting the local economy."

Drivers should beware of parking and road restrictions over the weekend, and pet owners should note that fireworks will be launched on Saturday at 9.15pm.

Free park and ride services will ease the transportation hassle on Sunday afternoon.

This annual festival, supported by EventScotland’s National Events Funding Programme and resources from the UK Government's Shared Prosperity Fund, is organised by the Council in conjunction with a range of partners.
