A beloved Glasgow shop is set to close after 44 years of business in the city.

Wedding dress store Angelique Lamont Bridal and Bridesmaids will close its doors for the final time after four decades as the owners make plans to retire.

The business started in St Enoch Square in 1980 and has since moved to Howard Street, building up a loyal clientele and helping tens of thousands of brides create 'unforgettable' memories.

The team Angie and Maggie thanked customers for their support over the years and, while no closing date is confirmed, they said it is time for a 'new chapter'.

They said: "After 44 years in the bridal business, it is with great sadness that we announce our decision to retire. This has not been an easy choice for us, but it is time to create a new chapter in our lives and spend more time with our families and friends.

"We have been fortunate to work alongside fantastic manufacturers and their representatives throughout the years. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you; it has been an amazing experience.

"To all the staff who have worked with us over the years, a massive thank you for helping make our brides' dreams come true. The memories, laughter, and friendships we've made will stay with us forever."

Those who have already placed orders will still be honoured, and Angelique Lamont plans to remain open until all orders have been completed.

In the meantime, the shop has launched a huge sale as 'everything must go'.

They added: "Thank you once again for choosing us to be a part of your special day. We appreciate you all so much."
