UPDATE HERE. 

A large emergency presence has been called to Glasgow city centre following an incident.

999 crews raced to Royal Exchange Square on Wednesday after a man reportedly fell within one of the buildings there. 

The force issued a statement to reassure the public who may be concerned about the unusual level of police in the area.

They have said that there is no wider risk to the public. 

A spokesperson said: "We would like to reassure the public following a large emergency presence in Royal Exchange Square. This is related to a report a man has fallen within one of the buildings. There is no wider threat to the public."

Images from the scene show multiple ambulances and police vans stationed on Queen Street outside the Gallery of Modern Art and the Duke of Wellington statue. 

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 12.23pm to attend an incident on Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow.

"We dispatched one ambulance, one paramedic response unit (PRU), and one trauma team to the scene.”
