Police and fire crews are at the scene of an ongoing incident in Glasgow.

Multiple emergency services have descended on the M8 motorway following a crash involving several vehicles.

The incident occurred at around 8.40am on Thursday, September 12 on the westbound carriage near junction 21 Seaward Street. 

One lane is currently blocked and traffic is backed up with a delay of around 25 minutes, Traffic Scotland is reporting.

The fire service confirmed that they dispatched four engines and a heavy rescue unit to the scene.

No one appeared to be injured in the collision and crews left the scene. 

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 8.18am to reports of a road traffic collision involving five vehicles on the M8 in Glasgow.

“Operations Control immediately mobilised four appliances and a heavy rescue unit.

“Crews assisted emergency service partners and there were no casualties reported.

“Firefighters left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

Police Scotland declined to comment.
