Matthew Algie's origins begin in Greenock where founder Matthew Algie was born in 1814. He served tea that arrived on the famous Clyde Clipper ships, and in 1864 he decided to set up his own tea blending and wholesale business.
Soon he was serving thousands of Glasgow retailers and after the Second World War, they expanded to coffee.
The firm moved to a factory on Lawmoor Street in the Gorbals where it still survives today.
Now, the team is heading into a new era by keeping up with the times with its modern new refurb.
