A driver was allegedly caught doing 47mph in a 30 zone in Glasgow.

Road cops were carrying out checks as part of their speeding campaign on Avenue End Road in the city's East End recently.

During this, they say they clocked a vehicle travelling 17mph over the speed limit.

An image of a speed gun shared by the force appears to show a reading of 47mph.

They issued a £100 fine and three points were added to the driver's licence.

They said: "This driver was detected at 47MPH in a 30MPH during our Speeding Campaign on Avenue End Road, Glasgow by Glasgow Road Police.

"Speeding isn't worth the risk. Slow Down. 3 points, £100 Fixed Penalty issued."
