A man has tragically died after being hit by a car on a busy road in Paisley.

The incident happened on Hawkhead Road in the town at around 8.10am on Wednesday, September 18.

During the serious crash, two men were struck by a car.

We reported how 999 crews raced to the scene. After that, the pair - aged 40 and 50 - were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the motor was uninjured.

However, sadly, the 50-year-old man passed away in hospital on Sunday, September 22.

(Image: Newsquest) Following the horror crash, the road was closed for around eight hours to allow investigation work to be carried out.

Now, road cops are appealing for anyone with information on the smash to come forward.

Sergeant Scott Gourlay said: “At this time, our thoughts are with the family of the deceased, along with everyone else affected by this incident.

“Our investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing and we ask anyone who has any information, including dash-cam footage at the time of the incident, to contact police.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: "Anyone with any information who has not spoken to officers should contact police via 101, quoting incident number 0695 of Wednesday, September 18, 2024."
