More than 200 cannabis plants have been found in a raid of a Glasgow home.

Officers made the discovery when they descended on a property on Glenkirk Drive in the city's Drumchapel on Tuesday at around 8pm.

The force says the haul has an estimated street value of around £98,000.

Reports on social media told of a significant police presence in the area at the time and locals claimed there was a strong smell.

One said: "What's happening? Lots of police around."

Another wrote: "Police raided someone on Glenkirk [Drive]. The smell was crazy."

A third added: "I drove past earlier and the smell was so strong."

A fourth replied: "I drove by last night and the smell was insane! So many police cars, looked like a massive raid."

Cops are now making efforts to track down those responsible for the 'significant' find.

Detective Inspector Alan Ferguson said: "This significant recovery highlights our commitment to disrupting drug-related crime in our communities.

"It also reinforces our ongoing commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious and Organised Crime Strategy.

“Information from the public is vital to our efforts, and I would encourage anyone concerned about drugs-related activity to contact Police Scotland on 101.

"Alternatively, you can report anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
