A bridge next to a railway will close for over a month as part of a major Network Rail project.
Upgrades are being done to the railway bridge on Peel Road in Thorntonhall for the East Kilbride Enhancement project.
This will result in the road being closed every night from Saturday, October 5 until Friday, November 8 between 8pm and 8am.

Engineers will raise the side walls during the next five weeks and so to carry this out in the safest way, the road at the bridge needs to be closed to all vehicles and pedestrians.
Once the walls are raised from 1.55m to 1.85m, the overhead line equipment can be installed to allow power electric trains to run underneath it.

Claire Monaghan, Network Rail's senior project engineer, said: “We’re pleased to be starting the work to raise the parapets on the bridge at Peel Road in Thorntonhall.
“This element of the East Kilbride Enhancement project will take just over a month to complete, with traffic management measures in place every night to allow the team to work safely.
“Our thanks go to members of the community for their patience and understanding while we complete this vital work.”

The East Kilbride enhancement project is part of a £140m plan to decarbonise Scotland's railway.
The plans will see the electrification of the route between East Kilbride and Glasgow.
East Kilbride station is also being upgraded, while Hairmyres station is being relocated and the existing loop extended by 1.4km.
Over 160 steel foundations have been installed along the track to provide the base for new overhead masts which will support the overhead power cables.
The project is scheduled to be completed in December 2025.
