A man flipped a table and attacked a person during a pool game.

Joseph Stillie was at Buchanan Lodge in Rutherglen on the evening of January 16, 2024.

This is a care home for men experiencing homelessness.

At the pool hall, Stillie was playing with two other men.

During the game of pool, he started shouting and swearing.

Then, he flipped the table that he was sitting at.

Christopher Gray, who was with him, decided to leave but Stillie ran after him, shouting and swearing.

He pushed Mr Gray to the floor, got on top of him and punched him in the face repeatedly.

The third man who was with them tried to separate the two before he went to the staff room and called the police.

Around 8.24pm, there was another commotion and 53-year-old Stillie was on top of Mr Gray again.

He was seen to be swinging his arms and Mr Gray was bleeding from the left cheek.

When officers arrived, the fight was no longer ongoing. Stillie was arrested, taken to the cell van and driven to the police station.

Stillie appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after he pleaded guilty to the assault.

He also admitted to behaving in an abusive manner on three more occasions and assaulting another man at Buchanan Lodge and the Fordneuk Accommodation And Alcohol Support Service.

On September 9, 2023, he called officers a "baldie p***” and a “stupid cow”.

On Christmas Eve last year, he damaged property and shouted at staff at the accommodation: “Get the f****** police, man”.

On January 6, 2024, he struck a man with a chair.

Finally, on May 15, 2024, he told cops arresting him: “You are w******. I have got HIV, I will spit blood on you, I will kill you, I will murder you, your mum is a cow”.

Sheriff Mark Maguire said: "The threshold for custody has been passed but I am not minded to do that."

Stillie was tagged for 150 days, forcing him to stay at home between 7pm and 7am each day.
