A former Glasgow care home will be turned into a house and short-term let property, despite objections.

The Beeches Glasgow Ltd was finally given the green light to repurpose the building on Langside Drive, Muirend, known as The Beeches.

The proposal is for a family home and five serviced apartments.

Encompassing the original historic villa, the home will be three stories tall and will have a formal sitting room, dining room, library, kitchen, utility room and cloakrooms.

The first floor will contain a home office and six bedrooms, two with ensuite, and two bathrooms.

Also proposed are five self-contained, serviced one-bedroom apartments.

This is a modified plan after the applicant first submitted the bid in January 2024.

In the original proposal, papers outlined a family home, a one-bedroom apartment and an eight-bedroom property with communal spaces.

This was withdrawn in early April after it received 52 objections from residents.

Similarly, the current planning documents, submitted in late April, also gathered 35 objections from locals.

One letter quoted increased traffic and noise, as well as the lack of parking spaces for their disapproval.

However, despite this, Glasgow City Council officials have accepted the updated bid.
