East Dunbartonshire Council is preparing to begin construction of an affordable housing development in Twechar.
The Canalside project is one of nine which were approved in February and councillors have now agreed to the conclusion of the pre-construction phase, including tendering of the contract.
The Twechar development consists of 15 houses of various types and sizes up to four bedrooms, including two which are specifically designed for wheelchair users. Each is also designed to the Passivhaus standards for energy and heat efficiency.

The site is next to the Outdoor Pursuits Centre and is also close to the Forth and Clyde Canal and the Antonine Wall buffer zone.
The development will cost a total of £7.1 million, with £1.6 million coming from the Scottish Government.
The council is now seeking a contractor to carry out construction, which is expected to begin in February and take around one year to complete.
