Four people have been rushed to hospital after a serious crash with a taxi in Glasgow city centre.
999 crews raced to Union Street at around 1.50pm on Saturday, October 5 following a report that the vehicle had collided with four pedestrians.
The road was sealed off at its junction with Gordon Street and police, fire crews and an ambulance were all in attendance.
Tents appeared to have been erected outside the Tesco Express store in the Ca D'Oro building.
The force has now confirmed that two women, aged 60 and 61, and the male driver of the taxi, aged 62, were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
A 61-year-old woman was also taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
Paramedics assessed another 50-year-old woman at the scene.
Several roads nearby were closed to allow investigations to be carried out at various locations, but these have since reopened.
Now officers are calling on the public who may have witnessed what happened to get in touch to assist them in figuring out exactly what occurred.
Sergeant Christopher Hoggans from Road Policing said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened. I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact us with any information they may have.
"I would also ask anyone with recording equipment to check the footage as it could assist us in our ongoing investigation.”
Shocked eyewitnesses told the Glasgow Times that the scene resembled 'chaos' and seemed 'eerie'.
Geoffrey Hing, a Big Issue seller, said: "All of a sudden the taxi came flying round the corner and mounted the pavement.
"People got hit. It was terrible.
"I've only seen something like that on the telly, not in real life. Not in all my time working in Glasgow."
Abbie Paterson, from Garthamlock, told the Glasgow Times the scene was "chaos" and she also heard multiple people were hit by a vehicle.
She said: "It is awful, just chaos.
"We're on our way to Silverburn and heard a taxi hit some people.
"The tents went up really quickly."
Ally Wilson, from Dennistoun, added: "There were dozens of emergency vehicles.
"It was eerie, I crossed the road and looked up Renfield Street and it was just blue lights.
"I hope everyone is okay, it looked bad."
Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1825 of Saturday, October 5, 2024.
