A person had to be cut out of their car after a horror crash in Glasgow.

Two cars collided on Anniesland Road in West End at around 4.18pm on Sunday.

Multiple 999 services including fire crews and ambulances were called to the scene.

The fire service said one casualty had become trapped inside their car and had to be released by emergency teams.

Two people were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for their injuries. 

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We received a call at 4.18pm on Sunday, October 6 to attend a two-car road traffic collision on Anniesland Road, Glasgow.

"We dispatched two ambulances, two special operations response teams (SORT), and a paramedic response unit (PRU) to the scene.

"Two patients were transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We were alerted at 4.18pm on Sunday, October 6 to reports of a road traffic collision in Glasgow.

"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the city's Anniesland Road, where firefighters helped to release one casualty who had become trapped within their vehicle.

"The casualty was thereafter transferred into the care of paramedics and taken to the city's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

"One additional casualty was taken to the same hospital for a precautionary check-up.

"Firefighters left the scene after working to make the area safe."

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: "Around 4.20pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024, we were called to a report of a road crash on Anniesland Road, Glasgow.

"Two people were taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing."
