An iconic 60-year-old Glasgow restaurant has been given a prestigious award.
Indian eatery Shish Mahal was awarded two Rosettes by the AA, recognising the establishment as a place of 'culinary excellence' and a 'stand-out' dining experience.
First opened on Park Road in the West End in 1964 by the late Ali Ahmed Aslam - better known to customers and friends as Mr Ali - Shish Mahal has cemented itself as a go-to venue for Indian cuisine in the city.
Mr Ali's son Asif Ali, who is the COO and PR and marketing director of Shish Mahal, has spoken of his pride that a humble family restaurant has achieved such an accolade.

He said: “We are truly humbled by this honour.
"This award reflects the dedication and hard work of our incredible team. Their passion for delivering the best to our guests every single day has made this achievement possible."
Shish Mahal is renowned around the world for being the birthplace of the chicken tikka masala dish. According to legend, it was invented using a tin of tomato soup.
Mr Ali previously revealed the dish was created when a customer thought their tikka was too dry.

He said: "We used to make chicken tikka, and one day a customer said, 'I'd take some sauce with that, this is a bit dry'.
"We thought we'd better cook the chicken with some sauce. So, from here we cooked chicken tikka with the sauce that contains yogurt, cream, and spices.
"It's a dish prepared according to our customer's taste, usually they don't take hot curry, that's why we cook it with yogurt and cream."
