A Glasgow driver speeding through a red light crashed into another car resulting in both men being taken to hospital.
John McCormick, 57, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court this week after he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to adhere to a red light and colliding with a vehicle.
The incident took place at 10.20am on October 12, 2023.
Driver John Cunningham was driving on Stobhill Road and the light turned red so he stopped.
When the light turned green, he drove onto the junction with Balgrayhill Road towards Fife Way.
There he spotted a yellow Kia driving fast towards him. Mr Cunningham could not get out of the way in time and the car crashed into him.
His vehicle mounted a traffic island and struck nearby lights which became wedged under the cars.
Airbags were deployed as significant damage was done to both vehicles making them undriveable.
Another driver, travelling opposite of the Kia, saw it driving at high speed and overtaking vehicles waiting at a red light.
Police and ambulance crews were alerted and the driver of the Kia was identified as McCormick.
Both drivers took a roadside breath test and the results were negative.
Then the men were taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.
McCormick, of Keppochhill, confirmed he was the driver and he was arrested, cautioned, and charged.

The court heard that as a result of the crash, Mr Cunnigham had bruising on his abdomen and burns on his right forearm.
Sheriff Patricia Pryce asked: "Was there a fire?"
The procurator fiscal depute replied: "No."
The sheriff and MCormick's solicitor both inquired if there were any details on how Mr Cunningham suffered burns but they could not be provided.
Sentence was deferred for the Crown to clarify the injuries.
