A Glasgow man is using his Hallowe'en spirit to make a big difference.

With his humungous Hallowe'en's Michael Myers inflatable, skeletons and light displays in place, Darren Hughes’ Dalmarnock home has been dressed up to the spooky nines to raise funds for PEEK Project; an East End charity helping children and vulnerable families in the city.

“They do amazing work, they are brilliant. My kids go to one of PEEK’s clubs and they are just the perfect charity.

“I hope the money goes towards many of the projects PEEK delivers.”

He added: “It’s just a bit of fun but hopefully it makes a big difference.”

“I’ve been doing this for around four years and the kids love it,” Darren said.

He continued: “I’ve added little bits here and there to the display over the years, but it’s the Michael Myers inflatable which has taken it to a new level this year.”

And where exactly is that new level? Viral on TikTok.

Darren explained that his neighbour took some videos of the display which quickly gathered views.

And with the video now sitting at double-digit thousands, it has quickly caught the attention of people across the country and city – with people even travelling from Fife to see the display.

And it is because of the widespread attention that the East End dad has decided to use the momentum for good instead of gain.

“So many people watched the video and came to see the house and I thought, I could make some good out of this, something that could do help local kids in the community.”

The donations pots – one online and another attached to the fence of the house - are already picking up speed.

Darren said: “I set up a Just Giving page which has had about £142 already and the donation box on the fence is already filling up.

“It feels great to see the money come in.”
