A former Glasgow school janitor’s house is to be sold to a housing association by the council for £310,000.

The Broomhill Primary three bedroom home is to be purchased by Partick Housing Association if a plan is approved.

The 1970’s detached bungalow boasts a garden and private driveway.

The building was at the centre of a controversy in 2017 over fears the janitor faced eviction, which saw more than 1000 people sign a petition.

A council paper said: “The asset has been declared surplus by education services and is subject to a secured tenancy.”

It added that “funding for the purchase will be provided via the affordable housing supply programme.”

The paper said selling the property will provide more housing. It comes as the city faces a housing emergency with pressure on homelessness services.

The property is not part of the council’s common good according to officials and the site extends to 0.042 hectares.
